SS3 water level switch is used for HVAC system to detect the condensate overflow, it detects clogged air conditioning condensate drains and shuts off the system to prevent the overflowing water damage to floors, walls and ceilings. This easy to install with stainless steel self-hold bracket, and easy for removing and cleaning. The switch can be connected to either the VCC or thermostat wires, it is NC type(normally closed) switch: When there is no water overflowing, the floater stays on the bottom of the switch, the switch is close loop, and output ON signal; When there is water overflowing, the floater is raised by buoyancy and trigger the switch to open loop, and output OFF signal to shut-off the device.

I’m using this with a water tank that I have above another, with a filter in between. Rather than having to stand there and watch it, now I can turn it on and do something else. I haven’t installed it yet since it involves running a wire, but I checked it with a meter. I also need to make a different clamp, just bent metal like the one it has since my tank is thick HDPE and I think it’s sized for a metal tank. I can copy the one it came with and just make it for a thicker wall.

This SS3 Float Switch from WESUA is perfect for small low Voltage DIY projects. I used it to create an operating light at the head of the stairs to check if the sump pump is operating properly. I placed the float switch just above the normal high range of the sump then I placed a 12V source and a led light into the circuit. Because this is a NC switch I put a green light upstairs to tell me all is ok. If I wanted to get fancy I would put a dpst relay and have it make an alarm and red light when the water rises.This little low V switch is perfect for what I built.

The purpose of this device is to detect standing water leaking from an AC furnace or air handler. If the drain pipe backs up or watee starts leaking out of the AC and fills the drain pan under the AC then this device’s float switch will rise with the water level and disconnect power to the AC before it floods your house. It worked perfectly to replace my old one. 5/5 stars.

If you are looking at this switch, then you know what it is for – when (not if) the a/c drain gets plugged, and the water comes out the overflow line into the catch pan, this will shut off the water and keep from damaging your ceiling. I know first hand how important this switch is. It was smaller than switches I have used in the past, but the design (internal sealed sensor and magnetic float) is more reliable and less prone to damage from moisture, so it will work when needed. Don’t just trust the clip on the side, add a stainless screw to ensure it stays in the proper position and depth to work.
